Titus Alicai obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Agriculture at Makerere University in Uganda, and PhD (Plant Virology) at Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich, UK. He later held a visiting scientist position at Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, USA. He has over 18 years’ experience of research on cassava and sweetpotato. His current research activities include molecular characterization and diagnostics of CBSD viral pathogens, cassava mosaic geminiviruses, Xanthomonas axonopodis manihotis, sweetpotato viruses, yam viruses, and phytoplasmas. He also researches on field epidemiology of cassava diseases and their effects on growth and yield, cassava tissue culture, genetic transformation and confined field evaluation of transgenic cassava.
